The neocortex is an biological artefact, designed to find and support any sort of patterns in a random stream of input. To judge this patterns by interindividual differences mental health in general has in evolutionary terms to be set as any variation which succeed sufficent recreation. To define criterias for the mental health of humans seems more difficult due to the fact, that evolution is not cucial to homo sapiens any more. Main reason of this are the phenomenon of self-conciousness and the resulting behaviour of free will. So mental health of any human has to be defined as the possibility of free choice in any manner. In this sense, any effort or result of fact which undermines self-conciousness in general and the ability of free choice in particular has to be pointed out as an attac on human health, in generel and on any particular individual.
